The night owl
Personality
You burn the candle at both ends and live in the fast lane doing everything to excess. When you wake to the sound of your alarm in the morning, the first thing you notice is the killer headache and hangover. And what’s the first thing that you reach for? Of course the vitamin B and C; it’s your saviour.
As you’re constantly busy, you get through the day with multiple caffeine fixes and you usually grab lunch on the go, which is typically fast food, whilst vegetables are barely featured in your diet.
As for exercise; well there aren’t enough hours in the day and to be honest, you are tired from the morning and it is the last thing on your mind. At the end of the day, the dance floor is your workout.
At the annual meeting of the American Dietician Association (ADA) in Chicago, experts told a packed conference hall of dieticians that it isn’t just about calorie counting or the amount of time that is spent on the treadmill, but that it is also a matter of personality when it comes to weight loss.
“The effects of eating this way will eventually catch up with you. The lifestyle and the foods eaten aren’t conducive to losing weight at all,” explains Leena* a nutritionist. “Why not stay in a few nights and get your social fix over breakfast with friends, and that way you also aren’t missing the most important meal of the day?”
Suggested daily meals
Breakfast: Scrambled eggs on granary toast Lunch: Vegetable soup with either a chicken wrap, or a salad Dinner: Stir fry with brown rice or grilled fish and vegetables
Workout
Dance-aerobics with friends. Pick a great sound track to dance to. Be realistic. You are not likely to make a 6am class. How about the Carmen Electra’s Stripper workout DVD?
