'Sex and the City' star Sarah Jessica Parker and American Vogue editor Anna Wintour have joined a committee advising President Obama on how to promote the arts in the country.

Sarah Jessica Parker and Anna Wintour are to give advice to US president Barack Obama. The 'Sex and the City' star and the US Vogue editor have joined a committee - which has First Lady Michelle Obama as honorary chairman - in order to raise awareness of the arts in the country. Michelle Obama said: 'The arts are not just a nice thing to have or to do if there is free time or if one can afford it.' Parker - who is currently filming the sequel to the hit 'Sex and the City' movie - and media guru Wintour join a group of Hollywood and fashion figures who have been tasked with bringing attention to education, cultural diplomacy and economical development through the arts. Other members of the committee - originally formed in 1982 during Ronald Reagan's presidency - include a cellist, a theatre and film producer and a ballet dancer.
